You may be surprised at reading about Advent calendars in January. Well one is never too early when it deals with getting for Christmas. This article was written on December 1st and for technical reasons is only published today. So let's think of Christmas 2011!

WHAT IS AN ADVENT CALENDAR ?
An Advent calendar is a special calendar which is used to celebrate or count the days of Advent in anticipation of Christmas, that's why some calendars remain rigorously religious. Forgetting that Advent is supposed to begin between November 27 and December 3, most commercially available Advent calendars start on December 1.

Today, they're are mainly made for children. Many take the form of a large rectangular card with many "windows", one of which is opened every day during Advent. In less studied calendars, each window reveals an image, a poem, or part of a religious story. More elaborated ones offer a small gift, hidden in each window, such as a toy .
